MISSION
The mission of the New Jersey Community Action Association (the “NJCAA”) is to enhance the ability of member Community Action Agencies (the “CAAs”) and other NJCAA members (jointly referred to as the “Members”) to provide leadership and services that enable the achievement of self-sufficiency for low income people.

PURPOSE – as stated in current By-Laws

“The primary purpose of the Corporation is to gain active participation and support of leadership at the community, state, and national levels involved in community development activities, physical and social, so as to coordinate this resource to make a meaningful, comprehensive focus on alleviating poverty within the State of New Jersey.  All powers available to the Corporation under the terms of the Certificate of Incorporation shall be utilities to obtain this purpose.”

VISION

The vision of the NJCAA is to become the most influential advocate on behalf of organizations that serve low-income individuals in New Jersey and to consistently offer valued resources to Members, individuals, and organizations that support NJCAA’s mission.

Guiding Principals
We have a fundamental belief in the capacity of the NJCAA to:

  • Provide excellent service to Members and stakeholders in the NJCAA who share our vision;
  • Offer valuable resources to Members, including new ideas, service opportunities, training support, economic and other collaboration opportunities;
  • Cooperate with Members and stakeholders in a positive spirit of teamwork to achieve NJCAA goals and objectives;
  • Provide a communication forum for Members and stakeholders to exchange and evaluate ideas.
  • Maintain high standard of integrity in all of the NJCAA’s professional dealings.
  • Provide a positive and rewarding work-environment for NJCAA employees.
  • Operate in a financially responsible manner within our means.
  • Offer transparent fiscal accountability to Members.

To support those principles, the NJCAA commits to:
  • Provide for periodic evaluations of the NJCAA’s services using Member surveys and other performance measures to ensure that valued services are being provided effectively to our Members.
  • Offer excellent quality training for Members and stakeholders in the community who share our vision;
  • Sponsor and support team-building events and services;
  • Create and maintain information services that support Member work relationships, employee competencies, and program capabilities, including access to experts in fields of interest;
  • Communicate the need for mutual support and inter-dependence among NJCAA members as an avenue to success for all Members;
  • Report on the NJCAA’s financial condition in timely manner, providing accurate and thorough information to Members; and,
  • Maintain a positive work environment for our employees.
